I have a Wurlitzer 3100, if I push the coils it will select and play the record but the selection buttons when depressed stay down and nothing happens. I have a manual but it is vague on troubleshooting this problem. Any ideas? Im new to this site, learning, and having a blast with jukeboxes. My name is Jeff located in mid Michigan

What "coils" are you "pushing"--why ? Did you check the keyboard switches properly ? If you are not familiar with doing this, check our FAQ's section. Ron Rich

The ones on the selector drum at the bottom of the unit. I was cleaning the dust, etc. out and bumped 1 and it selected and played the record

I may be incorrect, but this does not look like a "3100" to me- ?? Ron Rich

That is a 3110. 50 record-100 selection.
Swing open the front so as to see the underside of the keyboard.
Make a selection so that the buttons stay down.
Take a plastic item such as a pen and -carefully- jog-nudge the contact blades.
Check for sparking or if the unit takes off and selects.
If so, that is where your problem lies and it is common on all the carousel Wurlitzer models.
Unrelated but important is to thoroughly oil the mechanism and there are some minor but useful steps that can prolong the mech motors. We can cover those later.

It's usually the last leaf in that switch that's activated by the coil --- Ron Rich

robnyc, tried nudging the contact blades last night, nothing. Does anyone have a picture of the selector mechanism from the inside? There is a 2 wire plug hanging from the selector panel but nowhere for it to plug in.

Norm, 99.98 % of them will have this wire "hanging"-- it goes to an "option"--see your manual ! Check and clean all plug-in relays ( see FAQs again !) Ron Rich

Thanks guys! I pulled the selector panel off the machine, couldn't get to the contacts very well with it installed. Cleaned all contacts and it works great! Again thank you!

Now that the selection process is working great I was cleaning everything up and noticed there was sound coming from only 1 side, I checked the fuses, plugs and everything else I could find. If I switch the phono input cables the music switches sides. From what Ive read here in other posts and FAQ posts I think its the cartridge. Just wanted to know if Im correct before buying a new cartridge. My manual says to check the cartridge but I don't know how to do that.

Norm, First, check continuity from the plug on the amp to the cartridge--- then if good on both sides, READ our FAQs section to find a cart. supplier. Ron Rich
NOTE: IF, you need to change that cartridge, be EXTREMELY careful with the tone arm wire. Note how that wire has a "bend" in it on the back (plug) side-- IT MUST look exactly the same when you plug it back in--and the wire must still be taped onto the metal support !

I got a new cartridge today, installed it keeping the wires the same, I now have both channels but low volume and a bad hum. I couldn't find anything in the FAQ page to help. Any suggestions? I have continuity from the cartridge through the plugs that go to the amp It is an Astatic 760 cartridge.

Hi Norm, Have you contacted the seller ? By any chance-- if the contacts on the cart are marked--the white, on WurliTzers is ground--is there a ground clip on the cart.? If so, remove it ! Ron Rich
