Not a tech question per se, but toyed with the idea of getting a DEC wallbox and connecting it to my SPS160. Started looking at them on that "auction site" and was met with some sticker shock. Most of the wallboxes cost more than the price I got the jukebox for. Just wondered if it's just the typical overpricing some sellers on this site put out there or are these wallboxes usually in the several hundred dollar range?

Tony, Like anything else--they get what they can for them--If you purchase one make sure that you get one where the title strips scroll freely--weak point on them !. Also be sure it has the 311380-A power supply board in it, and a DTP dated 1976, or later. (I also prefer the DEC-3/4 models to the DEC 1,2, 3 models). Ron Rich

I gave in and picked a DEC4 model from the site that had the -A power supply board. Silly question, there appears to be a pricing board in the DEC4 unit on the listing, is it possible with that setup that a consolette could have a different pricing scheme as opposed to the juke itself? I would think the pricing board in the juke would serve as the “master” and wouldn’t need one in a consolette, as long as the remote data lines were “inserted” into the path before the “master” DPT input.

Hi Toni, No--ALL wall-boxes are programed independently, at the wallbox for pricing-- Ron Rich

Interesting, so I can leave my SPS set up for paid use and consolette for free play for example. Wonder how many establishments may have done something like that with the consolette in free play in a manager’s office for after hours use or to occasionally play selections to get patrons interested in playing more. Thanks for the info!

Tony,
I was going to say be patient and a nice one will come up on your local Craigslist/etc. for next to nothing, but looks like I'm too late!
The Tony Miller website has good info on how to wire up. If you buy the connectors, think about getting a few extras, since they're so cheap.
The guy in Wausau, WI advertising DEC spares on ebay is good if you need any parts. He'll work with you...I've bought from him a couple times.
Finally, good luck finding hook up cable. I haven't been able to find the original 10 conductor color code correct cable. But I've found stuff that will work at a surplus store for $.10 to $.25 per foot. Price on new wire was (and still is) way more than I can justify spending.

Thanks for the tip Bill, I looked for that seller in WI and added him to my favorite seller list. I did order the Molex connectors, pins and terminal strips enough for 5 phonos although if I buy a 3rd machine and bring it in the house, my better half may have an issue with it! Found that Always Jukin’ had a service manual so grabbed that if needed. Didn’t check the color code yet, but we usually have a good variety of multiconductor cable types at work and should have something that will work.
Will keep an eye on Craigslist still, thinking of doing one of those iPod controller conversions for the summer cottage as something fun to have there.
