I've looked through the manual & can't find any explanation. I'm sure there is a simple reason.
the 45s on the A side play much louder than the B sides. Noticeably louder.
I've double checked the needles (both are a few months old). There is plenty of tension in the tonearm springs (also new)
Curious....

Hi Rob, Start with the cartridge--what brand/kind/type are you using ? Then the springs--why did you change them, and are they the correct type for the cartridge you have ? Then when you say "--plenty of tension--" HOW MUCH tension are they set for ? Do you have a Service Manual ? If so, go to it and check the spring pressure adjustments. If not, see our FAQ's section and purchase a manual ! Ron Rich

The needles are both .7 mil Stereo Compliant Diamond needles for the Seeburg redhead cartridge. Both were replaced in November. Both were purchased at needles4jukeboxes.com
the springs were replaced because the ones that were on there were both seriously stretched & regardless of how I adjusted them, would not allow the arm to make solid contact . I purchased two springs from a seeburg collector through ebay.
This machine was purchased from an antique store & wasn't necessarily transported with the utmost care. It hadn't been used in years and, when i received it, it was not secured properly & took some TLC to get it working.
I have a manual & also have your mech guide (2nd edition). roughly 7 grams of needle pressure per the manual. I didn't have a gauge handy but, when I had it looked ate recently (for my arc suppression issue), the repairman noticed the springs were new & checked the tension just in case. both were correct. However, i noticed the volume issue after that visit...hence my post.

I see your guy said the needles were tracking at the correct weight, and you purchased from needles4jukeboxes.com. Have you tried swapping the needles to see if the problem follows the B side needle?
Ron will of course have more info when he next replies.

Rob, That phonograph was not factory equipped with that cartridge--it came with the "Black-head", and shorter springs. If using a Seeburg "Red head" cartridge, and the new stereo compliant needles, it should track at 4 grams of pressure at the most ! And you are stuck for a gram gauge if set at 7, and you WILL, Ruin those new needles, in a very short time !! Are you sure the needles are "seated" on the B side ? If so, the only difference "hasta-be" the wire going under the tone arm-- Which Amp is installed in your phono ? If a MRA-1, by chance does it have the AVC "box" installed, and has the switch been added to the upper contact point stack ? Ron Rich
