Hello Rob.... one thing I do is to replace the old magnetic ballasts with the newer linear ballasts. That way I completely remove the starter and the florescent bulbs light immediately. The ballasts are about $10 on Amazon, from Robertson. They work well on T12 and T8 bulbs... It wouldn't hurt to try it on your smaller ones.... Good luck... John

If doing this--be 100 % sure the new ballasts are properly fused ! Ron Rich

Thanks Everyone For Your Help!! It is greatly appreciated. I got side tracked for sometime when I found a 1929 Steelcraft pedal car for restoration. Got time now while many of its parts get a powder coat paint job.
Got the title case lights all working. It took a lot of looking but finally found the real problem. A poor connection on one of the factory "crimp on" wire splices. DUH!! I am still studying the title case bulb conversions to LEDS. I found they make a 12 watt LED tube that looks just like a fluorescent bulb and was told a minimum of 300 Ma for each bulb at 12 or so volts would do it.. Haven't found out about how hot they get. They come in DC voltage ranges and even 120 VAC. I was surprised to see a LED 12 watt tube type bulb that would take 120VAC. I wonder how well made they are and how they reduce the voltage and rectify it to DC. I am certain they are not made in the USA so additional concern there.
