I've looked through the entire parts catalog for my STD4 and other than the obvious description and part number (31-914811 Weld Screw & nut) I find no description of purpose or adjustment. Definitely a foot of some kind. Mine is kinda spinning in the wind, free and easy. I would think it is supposed to support the mech on the frame but not drag? or maybe guide it on the inside?? Thanks Andy

My R has the hole for something but does not have anything occupying said hole. Maybe it was for transport, but was never removed?

Hi Andy, The hole there was originally used to hook the finished tone arm/cradle assembly on a hook that transported it to the area that they assembled the mechanism. With the selection now playing, read-out, being set on top of the mech, that "foot" was added to prevent damage to the read out contacts ( See my Seeburg Mechanism Guide) The adjustment for it is shown in the Service Manuals. Thanks Ron! Great historical info. I posted here because I couldn’t find any adjustment for the shoe in my service manual... still can’t! However I did finally find a mention of it in your mech guide, at the tail end of the “Pickup Arm Frame Assembly” section.

Hi Andy, It's in some book ? It should be adjusted for .003 to 005 inches of space between it and the rail. Stops the mech from "rocking forward". Ron Rich
