Yeah, I'm running through contacting the folks on the FAQ, but the first few didn't have it. However, just knowing that this part was repro'd gives me hope.
Let me know if you happen to recall where you found one. Otherwise, I'll post once it's located.
thanks

Hey Ron, I reached out to a bunch of eBay sellers trying to find this spring and one of them said they have several m100a mechs, however none actually had the booster spring. As if it was never installed and/or removed.
So, trying to determine when this spring was needed vs not. I think it's important to note that my particular m100a was converted to play 33's.
The problem I'm having is it'll play through about half the record or so, then just continue to skip during play as if the arm can't continue through the rest of the record.
My assumption, as was the 'repair man' who came by to tune things up, was the issue was due to the missing spring.
What are your thoughts here?

Do you think this is my problem with the arm not advancing to the end of the record?

Dang. Was hoping you’d say it was something else . If that’s the case it doesn’t make sense they’d purposely remove it.

Gary, Remember--this phono was not designed to play 33 rpm records--it was designed to play 78 rpm records, with a much larger grove, in them, and about "ten pounds" of needle pressure, and even then, it needed that booster spring to overcome the force of the trip off switch and the balance of the tone arm. "Kits", built by several different "after-marketers", were used with varying success to "convert" them to 33 rpm. Ron Rich

Makes sense and assumed that was the case. Guess I could try rigging something, but didn't want to cause damage.
