Picked up this jukebox in somewhat working order. This jukebox has been set to "free play". I have read that there are several methods that were used before these new freeplay devices came out. To make a selection on mine, you have to press both the letter and number key at the same time. I would like to re-enable the ability to press one button at a time and have it latch. I Found that the 4 pin coin unit plug has been disconnected from the WSR5 L6 unit. I ultimately want to use one of the freeplay boxes that has the selection between coin and freeplay. Just seeing if I can get a little hint on where to look to determine what method some previous owner might have done. I do have both the parts and service manuals. Just can't figure out where to get started looking first.

Hi Chris, I would be happy to help you out, if only I knew which door you came in ?? Look at the CCU. Are any (or all) "rotary switches" in the select, or non-select position ? If in the select position look at the "ramp" that is supposed to cancel (push them "down"),as some jackass, has probably bent it out of the way (NOT the best way to accomplish this !!) If this has happened, you will need to VERY,VERY, carefully "re-form" that ramp, and carefully, watch it operate MANY times, by hand, on each switch--switch MUST not be under any pressure to "flex", or "jamb",cause it can do neither --it will break instead ! If that has not been bent, look for a "jumper" somewhere between pins 1 and 6 on the plug that goes to the CCU. As for the latching operation, Check that the solenoid is good( about 6 ohms is normal, and re-connect what ever has been un-done to it--- HTH, Ron Rich

Will do on the fuses and oil. The ramp had in fact been bent on the credit unit. Took my time and got it bent back nicely and to where all of the switches would return to home when cycled by hand. The latch solenoid was still connected but so gunned up that it wouldn’t move. Disassembled the latch mechanism and cleaned and lubed it. It checked out at 5 ohms so I put it all back together and thanks to you Ron, the selection mechanism works correctly now. Thanks for the hints!! I am slowly getting my head wrapped around how this machine works. Now on to the mechanism.

Chris, I would humbly recommend a copy of my "Seeburg Mechanism Guide" for you to read prior to touching the mechanism. Contact me at ronnnrich@yahoo.com, if you wish to purchase it ---

Get the service manual. Ron's mechanism guide is a good supplement to the service manual. Other information resources include Facebook groups "Seeburg HF100R Restoration Group", "Jukebox Repair help!", and "Seeburg Jukebox Collectors".
