Hello,
My grandfather passed away and I went to turn on the jukebox in years and it seems to be stuck in random play. When he was alive I asked him about it but he never did anything about it. So I factory reseted it back and still nothing. When I switch it into service mode it stops but as soon as I switch it to on it just randomly picks songs. I checked for errors and reset old errors and nothing. I have a service manual and I could not find anything that would tell me this and I don't know where to start.
I've even unplugged it completely and let it sit for sometime and still could not find anything wrong.
When he was around he would play it at least once a month or so. So it got played very often instead of sitting or if there was a holiday around.
Thanks Joe Parknavy

Hello Joe,
You need to enter programming:- Put the service switch into SERVICE. Hold down the POPULAR switch and key in 000 then release the popular button. You should see three horizontal lines on the prompt. Check the setting on location 32 Set it to 0 for no autoplay. Press popular after making any changes.
All of the above is covered in your manual.

Hi Joe, If you have followed the procedure above, most likely your computer has bitten the dust. If you are in the USA, (please update your profile to show this !), you may contact me as I have exchange, rebuilt, computers for that model phono. Ron Rich

Hi Joe, Check on the CCC-- there is a button marked "Test"-- If on, this causes the random play, I think you are describing ---Ron Rich PS--BTW-- Your phono is not an "AMI 90"-- it's a (Rowe) R-90.

I have also seen this kind of erratic behavior when the computer's backup battery is starting to fail. It's like it scrambles the RAM and dumps a bunch of random selections in there on power-up. You might check to see if the battery is OK. It should be a non-rechargeable ordinary button cell soldered to the motherboard. If you do replace the battery, I would recommend bodging a coin cell battery holder in its place to more easily facilitate future replacements. On an R-91 I recently stuck a holder for 2 AA batteries next to the CPU... it's what I had on hand, and it still makes 3 volts.
