Related to the Battery Trick:
1.) I do not have the electrical selector nor service switch, so I'm not sure how to make a selection to start the scan after applying the battery. 2.) From what I can tell from the schematic, jumpering the 2 & 3 on the service switch socket will put it in "play." Is this correct? I haven't tried it yet. 2a.) is it "jumping" or "jumpering"?
Thanks,
Terry

Hi Terry, Which model phono are you speaking of ? See the schematic-- the service switch on most models, "shorts out" the read out voltage. "Jumping" ( Idono- either ??--can not be proved, or izit, proven, by me ?!), the other contacts, being closed, allows the scan start pulse to get to scan add coil in the scan control assembly. It's a 222. I'm much more familiar with the R than the tormat models. I'll return to the manual to see the scan control assembly. The gist of it is that I'm hoping to test the amp and mechanism without any of the credit or selecting functions. I have the tormat and the receiver, obviously, but the credit and selecting components are in the cabinet, which is not easily accessible.
I can see from the schematic that the read-out is shorted when service switch moved out of play.
not sure what you mean by "the other contacts, being closed, allows the scan start pulse to get to scan add coil in the scan control assembly."

Terry, The scan control assembly is in the TSU--easy to hand trigger--trigger the detent by hand too, to test the amp. (If you had a copy of my "Seeburg Mechanism Guide", you would know exactly what to look for and how it's operated. Ron Rich

The battery trick isn't working for me. I'm operating a 222 without service switch, electrical selector or credit unit. Is it dependent on either of these to function? If so, is there a workaround? If not, what is most likely amiss?
