I’m beginning to fix some of the little things that don’t work on my R. The side 100 medallion lights don’t work. I dig into the manual and figured out that p26 on J9 is where that power should come from. After removing the back cover I discovered that my Receiver doesn’t even have a wire on the terminal. This jukebox came to me with a WSR-5 instead of the WSR-7. My question is would the 5 have come from the factory with no wire on this terminal or am I missing one? If it was supposed to be there, where would it have been connected on the other end?

Chris, L@ k at your "book" ! Betcha it don't say that a WSR-5 is supposed to be in a R ! Add the wire from the 5.8 v tap on the transformer. Ron Rich

Is there any benefit to finding a WSR-7 and installing or am I just as well to add a jumper to the one I have?

Chris,
There would be no technical benefit achieved by swapping your existing WSR-5 with a WSR-7 (once the jumper is added).
I've seen dozens of 'R's and 'J's utilizing a modified WSR-5.
The only possible downside is preserving the re-sale value of the machine, should you sell it. A savvy buyer may notice the difference.

BTW: The WSR-5 did NOT come with the jumper.

Thanks Ron and Marty. No plans to sell so I’ll look into the jumper. According to the schematics, it should be 5 volts unless I’m looking at it wrong which is possible. Looks like pin 4 on J7 has the 5vts on the WSR-5 as well. Would tapping into that be ok?

Yes Chris it should be the 5.8vac NOT the 25v tap.
Ron must have been asleep when he posted!
Running the jumper from S7 pin 4 to S9 pin 26 should work fine.
EDIT: The WSR-5 schematic calls out the sockets as 'S7' and 'S9' the WSR-7 schematic calls them out as 'J7' and 'J9'. Same sockets however, different nomenclature.

Hi Guys, Sorry 'bout the 25 volts--dono where the "2" came from--thanks for catching it (will edit it to 5.8) ONLY "advantage", I know of in changing it from a WSR-5, to a -7, is the CCU is easier to remove from the WSR! I ALWAYS, add a plug/socket to the -5's when I re-work them. Ron Rich
