Hi Folks,
I am looking for some advice with an NSM Satelite ES3/4 with an Ortofon Head.
The problem I am experiencing is that when the carriage scans left or Right and reaches the end position it stops and displays FF which usually means a fault in the carriage. I know the board on the carriage is ok as I have changed with a known good one and all other Centrals have been eliminated.
I have syncronised the mech to "80" as per book. I have also completely dismantled and cleaned unit, may be I have done something wrong there??

I would look at the plugs/sockets arrangements especially with respect to how they and their cables are supported, particurarly at the areas where the error is generated.

Hi Peter, I found an information that error code "FF" in Satellite refers to deadlock of records.

Hi Peter. i believe that es3 starts using an optical sensor to tell the carriage where it is at. even though you have tried a different carriage i would still start by cleaning the led and pickup. then move on to the cable that attaches the carriage to the central. they have a tendency to break right at the the connector on the carriage circuit board.
