Hi, Everyone. Well I bought a NSM Silver City jukebox yesterday. The key pad seems to not be working properly but am unsure if it's the actual keyboard. At first only the middle row of numbers would register and the letter c. So I took it apart seen there were some wires broken so resodered them onto the board. Well I plugged it in and the other numbers would register I hit them but no numbers would show up on the jukebox screen except the middle row. It would just have numbers then disapear when I hit a number if that makes any sence. Well then It slipped and the keypad arched on the jukebox and now the center won't register anymore. Well I shouldn't say register but it won't show any numbers and it won't play any of the cd's. Any idea what or where I should be looking to try and fix it? Thank you.

I would expect that you'll need the schematic! There's a diode matrix on the circuit board that the keypad plugs into; you've probably blown one or more. Norman.

In my humble opinion, you are wasting time and money- Did you read the "Hi Newbies" post in our FAQ's section ? I am ASSuming here, because I have never spoken with a NSM audio engineer, but I have with other juke-makers audio guys-- they all said about the same thing-- Speakers are part of the overall cabinet/ amplifier DAC (CD units) (needle/cart.record players) design. Changing ANYTHING, in that system can upset the design balance, and is likely to cause cabinet rattles, as well as cabinet damage ! If the sound is "sub par" fix what's causing it ! Are you aware of the impedance the NSM amp requires -- Are these new speakers compatible, with that spec. ? Ron Rich

I agree wholeheartedly with Ron, replacing speakers is a bit of a last resort - when all else fails - if you want to maintain the original sound! Have you inspected the drivers? These NSMs are notorious for the foam surrounds on the larger speakers perishing and it's not particularly difficult (with a bit of care) to replace them! Norman.

The worst speaker is what I believe to be the RH mid Range (5 inch) speaker .I'm sure your right as I tried other 8ohm speakers and still got that awful crackle. Adjusting the rh treble seems to improve the sound. Just noticed the Light Emitting diode on the rh side of the amp is not illuminating, fuse OK.

If you are hearing "crackle" from a speaker, most likely what you are hearing is something in the amplifier about to explode-- get that amp properly, serviced, by someone familiar with it, before it "blows up" ! Ron Rich

I have recently acquired NSM Silver city jukebox, for as long as ive known this jukebox it works brilliantly! However, i now have it and i ordered new keys for the side which unlocks fine, i can just about see the catches both sides so i know they have unlocked... However, how does the cover lift up to change the CDs, it still feels like its locked somewhere else?? i have searched everywhere and i cant find anything showing how to do this, is there something really simple i am not doing

The lid is assisted by two gas struts, one at each side. If the gas struts have lost their charge, the lid will feel particularly heavy. Other than that, I can't really think of anything - it's a hinged lid with two gas struts and a lock each side.
Norman.
