Hi, the Receiver had a blown resistor and transistor in the 'Signal' wire so I ordered replacements. They finally arrived so I soldered them in, tested the Signal wire with a meter and everything looked OK as far as the emitter of the transistor. After connecting it to the Jukebox I tried selecting the one record that I have in it, number 195 and it tried to play 170, and then 194. Trying various selections to test, it always tries to play two records: select, plays, then plays: 195 , 170, 194 170, 170, 194 100, 100, 124 150, 150, 174 123, 123, 147 138, 110, 134 126, 101, 125 It's odd, may be a loose connection as at least one of the plugs didn't seem to push fully 'home', may be a timing problem with the relays, dirty contacts, etc. I've not had time to check it yet and it'll be a few days before I can at it again (fitting a new kitchen for my sister-in-law then repairing our shower that's leaking). Meanwhile can anyone think of a specific cause for this problem? Regards Peter

Hi Peter, This forum does not offer any help on kitchen fitting, nor leaking showers--Good Luck ! As for a problem such as your jukebox is having-- If it were a Seeburg, I would look at the timing circuits in the stepper -- Ron Rich

Hi Ron,
well I can manage the kitchen and shower as I've done plenty of them over the years.
the jukebox is something 'new'...
On another forum, on facebook in a completely different query from someone ese (who has a 433), someone mentions the 'ballast bulb' stops the write in motor from overstepping and setting two or more pins.
Sounds like something I need to check. I think this is in the power unit as I've seen a bulb in there.

Hi Peter, I don't think that's true-- As far as I recall, if ballast lamp is bad, the phono won't select, at all --You need to look at the schematic, as my great, but not too long memory, says the lamp is in series with the WI circuit ? Ron Rich

Hi,
I have a 160 selection jukebox so it has two write-in units, one at each end of the arm. The receiver sends the 'hammer' pulse to the correct unit...
but if the receiver is set for 100 selections then it fires both hammers and it plays two records that are 24 numbers apart.
Somehow that switch got flicked across to 100 selections.
All working again.

Hi Peter, Thanks-- that makes all kindza sense ! I may have thought of that if I had known the selections were exactly 24 apart--(Naw--trying to give myself too much credit !). Ron Rich

Hi Ron,
that's why I quoted the numbers from my testing...
It is odd numbering though, I would have thought they'd use 100 - 179 and 200 - 279 as there's 80 records in it.
But it seems to go from 100 to 297 with some numbers in that range not doing anything and it doesn't help that I don't have a 'standard' Rock-Ola wallbox.
Anyhow, it's working so my next job is to strip everything out of the cabinet, repair and re-paint it, clean / oil / grease the mech (a couple of bits of rust to clean off) then I can rebuild it.
Regards Peter
