I have not used my jukebox in over 10 years. I turned it on and it started playing, I discovered that it was turned off with two records on the turntable. So I took one off and moved the arm to trigger the gripper and nothing happens. The carriage will not rotate when 'scan' is selected. The magazine motor does rotate when turning the knurled extension on motor. I did obtain a service manual. I'm on pg 19 at 3) Mechanism does not start but the turntable is rotating. The play control relay appears to be working as the trigger switches are moving. How do I check the magazine motor? and mechanism power board? Does the gripper need to be in home position in order for magazine to rotate? I can manually rotate the gripper motor to a spot when record would be picked up however it feels like its hitting a mechanical stop. I have attached a video, see below. youtu.be/Jh-fgPhok1Q

About all I can answer, is yes, the gripper must be over the records for the basket to be powered. You will need to READ that manual--and the schematics, to see what's supposed to happen, when. The gripper needs to be lubricated--read the stickies posted above this post. Ron Rich

The jukebox is stuck in sequence 17 - Music Cycle Ends. With the gripper motor removed would I be able to rotate the cam to complete the cycle? See video attached above. I'm sure the gripper needs to be lubed however the manual rotation appears to be hitting a mechanical stop. I was thinking I could rotate the gripper cam to free it up and lube prior to engaging the motor. Don't want to burn out the motor.

Did you READ the "Gripper sticky", above Yes, with the motor loosened, you should be able, to move it ( hard on hand) with your hand. Ron Rich

Ron - I did read your sticky about lubrication. So the clicking I'm hearing when rotating the motor is hardened grease?

If you hear "clicking" when the motor is operating--stop it instantly-your motor is "jumping" gears -- do not let this happen,or you will remove the teeth from the drive gear. Did you saturate the twin gears with 20 wt. oil ?? If so, try to "wiggle" one gear against the other. You can also remove the outer gear--just be sure to note the alignment - and get oil down in between them. Loosen it up and get the gripper arm up into the mid position ass described in the sticky. Then go on from there. Ron Rich

Ron - The gripper motor has been removed. I'm attempting to rotate by hand. The video above will show where the rotation is hitting a stop. It feels like something needs to be disengaged in order to continue the rotation. I have lubed the gears. Thank you for for your help.

Not oiled enough--the two gears on the other end from where you are "turning" MUST slip past each other--they are stuck together--like said earlier--remove the end gear and oil properly. Ron Rich

Hi, Thanks for the suggestions as now I believe the gripper mechanism has been freed up. What is happening now is that the record transfer is not completing, not placing record completely on turntable. I can get it to complete if I trigger micro switch 2 manually. At the end of record playing again the record is not picked up and returned to the magazine. I can get it to pick it up by triggering micro switch 2 manually. The cycle then completes. Am I having trouble with the either the latch relay or the reverse relay? If yes how do I go about checking them or where can I purchase? I have attached a video, see below. www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqsHCX9WI_MThank you in advance Larry

Hi Larry, First of all I do not have the service manual for your jukebox - but you do! About the point that the gripper motor is stopping is when the slowing resistor would be brought into circuit. If that resistor is open circuit, then the motor will stop before transfer completes. Off the top of my head, I think that micro switch 2 is what brings that resistor into circuit so there's also the possibility it may be faulty. You should be able to find that part of the sequence in your manual and it should show the location of the resistor which I suspect I can see in your video anyway (R305? 5ohms, 5W). Norman.
