About 10 minutes after plugging the unit in I will get low audio on the left side with crackeling and popping sounds. I was just going to order new output transistors for it but the S-305 is discontinued and I'm not sure the quality or compatibility of what's offered as compatible. here's a video of what its doing, but for about 10 minutes after plugging it in it sounds great. Thank you in advance for any info.

Hi Clinton, Is this doing this while muted, or not ? I don't think-- this is output related --might try some "freeze spray" to locate the faulty component ?? Ron Rich

Ron Rich doesn't do it while muted and does the same thing regardless of the volume level. the last time I used freeze spray I had purchased it at Radio Shack, So T don't even know where to get it anymore. Anyway regardless of playing sound or not, one power transister gets hot as hell, I pulled it out and fired it up without it installed and the crackling noise was gone, that's what lead me to believe it is the output transistors.

Clinton, If it does not do it muted, the problem is most likely in the "front end" of the amp., prior to the volume control. The heat on the output transistor, is probably a bias problem. Do you know how to set that bias ?? If not, I would suggest you find someone that's familiar with that amp and send it out. Ron Rich

Hi Clinton,
There was so many problems with this first 100 watt transistor amplifier that Rowe Ami introduced in 1967 that most of the MM series jukeboxes used the standard R-4359A valve amplifier option instead.
Regards Alan

Regards Alan So if I was to try and find a replacement amplifier for this unit I would be better off looking for a R-4359a?
