It's occurred to me that this would be a good investment for my Jukebox. I don't know much about electricity other than it can kill you. Any special considerations one should consider when purchasing a surge protector for a Jukebox? Or will any surge protector from Best Buy or Home Depot do the trick? I have a 1989 Rowe AMI if that makes a difference. Thanks in advance!

How often are kitchen appliances and HVAC damaged by electricity? Those more exposed appliances are undamaged why? Apparently the threat does not exist due to how all appliances (and jukebox) are designed. Jukeboxes survived where electricity was most harmful - in commercial establishments. Why then does it need protection in a home where electricity is nicer?
How many more sensitive and unprotected kitchen and other appliances have been damaged frequently?

Georgie, thank you for the reply. Never gave much thought to my appliances. Are you saying that surge protection is not needed for the Jukebox? Forgive me, as my knowledge of electricity is zip. Thanks in advance.

Hi Fernando, I have seen a few instances of damage from a surge, in a jukebox-- it usually takes out all fluorescent lamps, and once in awhile the power supply diodes. IMHO surge protection is not necessary-- however, it won't "hurt" either. I use them through our house in various places--mostly the "office" to protect our "lectronic stuff". IMHO, GFIC is much more important--- Ron Rich

Howdy Ron,
You make a good point, won't hurt for sure. I did reach out to a manufacturer of surge protectors and they have recommended two different models depending on the power consumption of the Jukebox. One with a 12A breaker and one with a 15A breaker. Which do you believe would work best for my 1989 R93 Rowe AMI? Big Thanks Ron!

Never gave much thought to my appliances. Are you saying that surge protection is not needed for the Jukebox? So many appliances are more sensitive. How many dimmer switches and microwave ovens were damaged? Many electronics, such as timer switches or his GFCI, would have been replaced and more desperately must be protected if the threat exists. Better protection can be purchased. But plug-in strips neither do nor claim to do that protection.

Back in the "primitive" days, when I was a kid, our electric company "dropped the neutral" going to our block--blew out almost every fridge motor on the block--'course in them thar daze, we didn't have no other "lectrik stuff" in the house--made an awful "buzzing" sound- scart the S--- outta me !
