Hi folks, first time forum user. I do have some (albeit limited) electronics background/capability, and own a pinball machine. However, jukeboxes are completely new to me, so please bear with me.
A friend recently gave me a Wurlitzer 2710 with a 545 amp. Apparently it was working when it was stored away, which judging by the song list was about the early 1980s. The story goes it was stored in a house, the owners moved and it sat for decades until the house basically fell down around it. There’s indication that it spent a little time in the weather, as there is some rust present and some of the selection switches were seized. I took the switch assembly apart and freed them all up and replaced a couple springs on the solenoids. So far I’ve replaced all the tubes, replaced the power cord, and have a full capacitor kit at the ready. After thoroughly examining everything and not seeing any signs of burnt components or other obvious issues, I plugged it in and turned the switch on, and the thing lights up. When I select a pin, (I think that’s what they’re called- remember I’m new to this) the motor on the turntable spins, but nothing else happens. Push the pin down and it stops.
Before I go much further down this rabbit hole, and spend more time and money, I’m trying to find as simple way determine if this thing will work at all, or if this is vain effort
Is there a Jukebox 101, or something that can give me the most straight-forward “how to start it up” kind of an overview?
Any help or additional resources are most welcome.
Thanks in advance, Bob
