Hi a few times lately the carriage travels back and forth without stopping I hit the reset button on the back of the machine but it didn’t stop. I pulled the plug on the box and powered back on And then it reset It played some songs after that but did it again when trying to select the song I’m not sure what could cause this but if anyone could advise it would be a big help Thanks

What's a "reset button" ? Please read our FAQ's section and specifically, the "Hi Newbies" post. Also please read our "User Introductions section". Ron Rich

Sorry. maybe I can be a little more clear than my previous post Sometimes my unit scans correctly. There is a digital readout of the magazine numbers as the carriage moves on my display They count up or down But sometimes and very frequently , recently numbers on the display aren’t counting right And my carriage keeps traveling back and forth because it can’t pick the record. When I said reset I meant reject button I thought I could hit that and it would cancel the selection but the carriage just keeps moving so I pull the plug. When I restore power the carriage resets back at the home position or rest position. I may get lucky and it’ll work for a few selections after that but then acts up again
Thanks Ron Philadelphia

Check plugs/sockets and ensure that cables are adequately supported. You might be able to narrow the problem down by manually supporting cables as it scans, paying particular attention to those going to the CCU (Control and Credit Unit). Norman.

Check the opto is clean inside with clear holes, it's round and black, on the right side of the mech just above the arm holding the bottom wheel.

I just had this fault on a City II, took me ages to find the problem. It turned out to be a short to ground on one of the wallbox connectors. Probably took me so long because it was the very last place I looked!

Yes Ron, I probably should have said "the last place I thought of looking"! But this jukebox has been sent to test me and make me a better person! It's had multiple faults and I'm not done yet! The mechanism is not detenting centrally and what little adjustment there is on the record rack is already as far as it can go! Turntable off next I think, see what adjustment I can get on that!
Norman.

Hi Norman, Don't tell anyone-- ALL jukeboxes are "sent" to make repair tech's, better persons ! Only reason I'm still living--I'm still not a "better person"-- Ron Rich
