I have bought a service manual and plan on completely going through and cleaning everything, but don't know where to start. The SM didn't address my current problem, I am interested if this repetitive problem is the cause of other issues. Here is what it does, as soon as the power is turned on it pulls the record from the magazine and plays the record, when it is done it replaces the record to the magazine, releases the record, but immediately pulls the record again and plays it again. Only way to get it to stop is to switch to load and then it replaces the record but it is still engaged by the arm.
Here is what it will not do. The magazine will not rotate, when I switch from run, to load, and then to scan the same record is always engaged in the record arm, so I figure there may be a safe guard to prevent the magazine from rotating. Also the keyboard selection buttons do not engage, when you push them.
One other issue I noticed, the free play switch is turn on, if I try to turn it off, it doesn't stay put it slides right back to on, I figure the switch is bad but didn't know if it could cause any of the other problems.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Should I just start dissembling and cleaning everything, starting with the magazine?
Addition history, if the PO information is truthful it worked 2 years ago, and then he moved it to a unheated breezeway between his garage and house. I saw no indication that there was a moisture issue in this environment, but it in Ohio I am sure it got quite hot in the summer and pretty cold in the winter.

Hi Mike, I would assume that one of the read out switches is stuck on a "released" pin, or the switch actuator is bent. Be very careful with the Read out switches, as they are made of near un-obtainium ! Do you have the Service Manual--If not, see our FAQ's section to purchase one. You will need to read the manual, find out the sequence of operation, and where in that sequence it is failing-- As for the "free play switch"--Once again, an assumption--it is spring loaded to return to the "OFF" position--so I guess that's what it's doing ? Thanks for the help, yes I have a Service Manual, PDF and a hard copy. It still had the original big fold out schematic.
I am out of my comfort zone here, but I believe I have enough general knowledge with electronics and have a couple of classic cars, so pretty good at trouble shooting. I am very careful and can keep very good records. This is my weekend winter project.

On a side note, I started cleaning micro switches and got 2 switches previously not working functioning again. Always nice to have some positive results from your efforts.

Hi Mike, No--that switch was designed to remain in the off position till pushed ("slud" ?) and HELD in the on position ! Did you read our FAQ's section post, on checking switches ?

Thanks, I did read the section on mirco switches, I followed his cleaning advice, which is how I got 2 of them working. I will definitely check and reread again. Didn't know if this was general advice about all switches. My analog tester came today.
