I have had this Jukebox for about 10 years, I have kept it well lubricated and as clean as is possible. All of a sudden I developed a couple issues that are problematic but not completely making the unit unusable. The box is set up for pay to play, coins and dollar bill changer. All work great. I have the following issues, not all at the same time time, but at random times. I hope someone can point out the common link to all of these issues. I purchased Ron Rich's Troubleshooting guide a few years ago, and recently the entire 6 section manufacturers manuals. The issues listed I can't find in the above mentioned publications.
First issue is: Once in awhile it will not play the last selection.
Second: Periodically will play the same record over until I reject it a couple times.
Third:And the weirdest one. If I have credits If I hit 9 on the last digit in my selection, once in awhile I get a popping sound in the speakers, and it rejects that selection.
I recently found another SPS2 that is complete, so I can replace some cosmetic issues and hopefully have spare electronic parts. I have several Grey and black boxes, changing those didn't seem to make a difference.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm new here but belonged to the old online email forum about 7 or 8 years ago.
Regards; Dan

Hi Dan, Been a long time --thanks for purchasing the MicroLog TS Guide-- Not sure what issue # 1 is-- are you saying it won't write it in, or it won't stop, or it will stop, but motor shuts off ? 2. You are going to need to catch this happening--can be anything from an obstruction in the record slot ( paper--loose label--sticker on record), to a problem with lubrication of the safety plunger assembly. 3. Whadda you mean here by "rejects" the selection--? Lights the reset lamp, or starts the scan, but nothing else ? Ron Rich

The third issue is if I select any record ending with a 9, as soon as I push the 9, PERIODICALLY I get a popping sound, and the mechanism acts like I pushed Reject. I'm going to run it through some more cycles and get better information for you. Yes it has been awhile, I really like the info in your book. Also check my response to your Mini Lamp request. jukeboxaddicts.proboards.com/thread/115/mini-lampsDan

I have been cleaning and lubing today testing out stuff. Now I'm finding I have several issues that are random. What exactly is the common thread to wrong selections, repeat play, failure to play a selection, also when in the home position, it will play the home position selection 3 or 4 times and finally go to the proper selection., I reject the record manually 3 or 4 times then it goes to the paid selection. Also when I put coins in, the Thank You light does not come on and the bulb is good. This thing was playing great then one day bam problems. I've also included a couple photos of things that don't seem right ! Dan

Dan, No common thread I know of--Do you have my Seeburg Mechanism Guide ? Scan control assembly is 'splained there-- Looks like the plunger is not returning to full "rest" position ? Second is TMU "frog" contact--makes no difference where the mech stops--it just coasts to a stop--more oil--coasts more-as for replaying a record--as I said, in 2. above-- Ron Rich

Ron; Where do I get the mechanism guide. Does it explain how to adjust and functionality of the mechanisms ? What determines where the player mechanism stops at the end of play, because the 278 or 277 number light is on at the end of the playing cycle. What makes it stop at the same place each time ?

Hi Dan, "Amazon"---is there any other place ? I sell it direct also. Contact me at ronnnrich@yahoo.com, (be sure to use 3 n's in ronnn!)and I'll sell you one. No "adjustments" that are covered in the correct service manuals, are NOT covered. It covers the Seeburg mechanism operation and changes made thru the 40 + years it was made. It is not designed as a "repair" manual--it is a supplement to the correct manual for your model. Yes--it lightly covers the different motor power (scan control) circuits used. Ron Rich
