Does anyone know where to source the upper midrange speaker foam sheets for an R81? It appears to have once entirely been sandwiched between the outer speaker grill and the speaker cabinet sub frame on the front and sides. Now it is almost entirely disintegrated.
I cannot seem to find the right kind of foam to re-insulate the upper midrange speaker grill. After a lot of research, it appears it may have been ~1/16 thick 30 PPI polyurethane "filter" foam in sheet form. However, I cannot find the right foam that is thin enough anywhere. 3/16 appears to be the thinnest so far which is still likely too thick. I think my chances of successfully cutting thicker stuff down this thin on my own is poor but I guess I'll see if I run out of options.
May also have to improvise with thick speaker cloth if I strike out. This box will buzz really bad with all the sheet metal on sheet metal if I don't replace the foam with something.

Hello JD,
I know it is white in colour but what about using the very thin packaging fleece?

Guyz, Seeburg had the same problem on the PFEA models-- found they sourced it from a window fabrication house. Ron Rich

Due to the difficulty in sourcing the original material and the poor quality of the original material, I opted to insulate the speaker grills with cheap generic speaker cloth. Found the lowest rated least expensive cloth on Amazon for around $11. Found I only needed one later between the front grill/subframe and two layers between the side grills/subframes. The quantity that came in the box was enough to finish the entire upper cabinet. This cloth was actually decent. The reason it only has a 1-star rating is that it was listed as "waterproof" and some "genius" thought it would stop water getting into his speaker.
