Hi, I'm new to this site. I recently bought a 1974 Rockola 454 & it has been working great but on Sunday when I switched it on & pressed the three buttons to play a song, the third button stayed in & nothing happened. Upon closer inspection the only way to reset the box is turn it off then on again. I was advised to check the fuses & relays, also clean the points in the credit unit. The wiper arm spins to the correct pin on the wheel but then nothing happens & the third button stays in. Nothing has put the problem right as yet, would anyone know what I should be looking at or has anyone had this problem ? Thanks for any advice.

Hi Ron, I must be looking in the wrong area because I can't seem to find the answer to my problem in the stickies you suggested. Can you point me in the right direction please ? Thanks.

Hi, I have now found what I think is the correct stickie I have cleaned the rings as suggested but unfortunately I still have the same proablem with the third selection button still staying in when pressed. I have double checked all the fuses & relays & they all appear to be good. If I pull the selection connector from the credit unit then the selection button releases but nothing else happens. I'm thinking the problem may be in the credit unit but I don't know where to start. The jukebox is set to permanent free play so something has been done to the credit unit but I'm not sure what. Help !!!

What did you use to "clean" the ring ? Did you remove the WI arm ? Did you meter the connections to the ring, when stopped at the selected spot ? Have you checked the WI coils ? Have you looked at the WI relay ? Ron Rich

Hi Ron, I used electrical switch solvent cleaner on a clean cloth to clean the rings. I've not removed WI arm. I've also used my multi meter to check that there is continuity between the rings & the WI arm. The relays appear to be working ok but not sure how to check the coils. Kind regards Bob

Hi Bob, I have no idea what "electrical switch solvent cleaner" is-- I have had "problems" with some "cleaners" not working here--only one that has always worked was the one named. Coils can be checked with your meter--all of them should have approximately the SAME resistance reading. "--relays appear to be working--" ?? See our FAQ's section on CONTACT cleaning-- Ron Rich
