Good evening! Trying to figure out why the bottoms speakers on my 490 are so quiet compared to the uppers. I mean when you in plug the uppers the lowers you can barely here with the volume all the way up. Thanks for your support!

Have you looked at the Service Manual for your phono ? Are external speakers connected to your phonograph ? If not, are the connections set for jukebox only, cabinet operation ? Ron Rich

Yes! I do not have a test record to meter it properly. The speakers are hooked up because I tested the connections and they make noise. They are not low impedance speakers! Thanks,

On a 490, the cartridge channels are wired out of phase (like a lot of AMIs). The two 12" speakers (in parallel) see the sum of the two amplifier channels. If the cartridge is wired wrongly, the 12" speakers will see the difference - might that be your issue?
