I have a Wurlitzer Lyric with a problem.
When I make a selection it the geared wheel at the bottom moves a few inches and stops that's all that hapeens.
The pins do not work if I lift one and the record carousel never turns and help would be much appreciated as It is difficult to get an engineer where I live.
Have checked fuses etc.
Thanks Jonty

Hi Jointy, That model is a WurliTzer GMBH (German made), of which I have only worked on/seen ONE, a very long time ago (hopefully, someone who knows more them I, will chime in !)---- Therefore I am guessing here ! If you do not have the Service information for that model, you will need to purchase it-- see our FAQ's for a list of suppliers. I assume that there is some sort of "play", or "scan" control unit in that phono. Find it and watch it operate-- If it's not a mechanical hang-up, such as a dirty ratchet, it may be the contact points need servicing-- If you are not familiar with servicing contacts, see our FAQ's, again. Hi Jonty, Which Lyric is it? It was produced from 1961 to 1981: 1961 - 1969: Records were played upright like in old style US Wurlitzer 1969 - 1981: Records were played flat. Check the serial number on its back, so we most likely can tell the year if you do not know it. Hildegard P.S. Actually the name of that company is "Deutsche Wurlitzer" (= German Wurlitzer). GmbH is for the legal form (limited liability company).

Hi Hildegard, I was aware of the correct name of the company--the ID tag used here does not say that in large print, or sometimes not at all, but does say "GMBH" after the WurliTzer name. Ron Rich

Hi Ron, So ID tags used in USA must be slightly different.
I wanted to attach a sample photo but get the message that attachment space limit is exceeded.
It says "WURLITZER" first but then Deutsche Wurlitzer GmbH.

Hi Hildegard, I don't recall seeing either one of those types, here --could well be, as I probably really never looked at the tags ?-- I vividly remember a paper sticker on the inside door of the OMT's-- I think this tag also said something about the word "WurliTzer" being used "under license"--from the "WurliTzer" company, USA -- not sure of the exact wording of it--Ron Rich

I found another one - model Rave On. I think this model was more often found in US than in Germany.
This shows the note "used under license".

Ok. So now we can wait for Jonty coming back to let us know year of production or serial number.
Take care - Hildegard

Oh, that does not sound nice. Is the quarantine all over CA? They do so over here either with infected persons and or with those who were in touch with a Corona infected person and the incubation period isn't over yet. Many countries in Europe are under curfew right now, Germany is not yet. So far most is closed but we are still allowed to go outside for getting food, medicines, if needed to go for work or to get some fresh air as long as we do not meet others. If these rules will not be followed curfew will be the next step I am sure. Luckily we are still healthy and we do all needed that it stays so.

Hi Hildegard MOST, of CA---I think ? We are still "allowed" to do much the same-- all gatherings of more then 10 persons are "forbidden", and we have been told to stay 6ft away from other people--no "handshaking"-- Ron

Yes, no handshaking, no hugs, 6 ft - 2 meters here - staying away from each other. Right now we do not go anywhere to meet others just to avoid any risk. Because of the long incubation period one never can know if the other person is infected. That's what makes this virus so incalculable. Stay safe!
