Hi folks
I have a Wurlitzer 5250 that I would like to adapt so as when I press an electrical switch it registers several credits. So far I have tried a momentary push switch connected to the coin switch wiring, and when I press the switch I do get a credit but just the one, I can see that the credit unit is totally mechanical apart from the previously mentioned coin switch. I really don't want to make any un reversible modifications to the 5250, & don't want to bother with coins. I realise I could just make it free play by stopping it deducting the credits. But I like the idea of fitting a small switch in the coin aperture opening with a coin fixed to the switch, & getting several credits for one press. Any suggestions?
cheers Paul

Hi Paul, Is this a WurliTzer", or a WurliTzer GMBH ? I am not familiar with that model, but is there only one coin switch? Does that phono have a "pricing unit", or a "pricing, accumulator unit" ? Ron Rich

Hi Ron Sorry about the lack of clarification, the Wurlitzer 5250 is not a phono but a wallbox ie remote selector, yes there is just the one electrical coin switch. Cheers Paul

Hi Paul, I had assumed it was the wallbox -LOL-- however, only one switch throws me ? I don't know of any post WW2 wall boxes, or Jukes with only "one" coin switch, other then some CD players that take paper money--- ? If set up for USA use, it would have had at least 3, possibly 4 ? Do you have the manual ? If so, check out the pricing section as to which switch has what function-- and again, not being familiar with WurliTzer products, does it have a "select after EACH coin" type, or an accumulator type, pricing unit ? Hi Ron Definitely only the one switch in both the 5210 and 5250. Yes I have the manual for it and if I drop a coin in it will add the correct amount of credits that are associated to the value of the coin. The single switch is activated by a lever, on the end of the lever there is a paddle that catches the coin, the coin does not immediately drop through to the coin box, but sits on the paddle, the switch is activated & the mechanism advances to the credit position. It is not untill the selection buttons are pressed & the motor restarts that the paddle now moves away & allows the coin to pass to the coin box, it is as the paddle releases the coin that the mechanism turns a wheel that adds the credits. As each selection is made the system of levers release the ratchet system this system removes a credit for each selection made. It would be a make selections after each coin system.

Hi Paul, I do recall that system as used in a phono-- there are "no coin switches"--just a motor advance switch, and a mechanical way to determine which "paddle" is being held. # of "credits" is dependent on size of coin (s). Nothing I can think of to do, if I'm correct--sorry. Ron Rich
