The Wurlitzers from the 1940's (24 Selection) came with an oil can and some small tools (I believe, been told, guessed at, etc.) for making minor adjustments. There is a small wood shelf (sort of) for these accessories. I'm not a "purist" so I don't mind (well a little bit) if my machines do not have the oil can or whatever else may have been included with the machine. I have never found a list of these items in the Wurlitzer parts listings. Perhaps they did not exist? If they did I suspect them to be just a generic oil can of some sort without any markings.
I have a bag of old oil cans, somewhere, that I have collected for years. I just wondered if anyone has ever had/seen a (for sure) original Wurlitzer oil can. Perhaps they did not really come with the machines? Doesn't make much difference, just curious. We have very knowledgeable people at this site. This site is filled with lots of great information and continues to expand every day. In the very early 1970's, when we bought our first machine, information, parts, manuals and jukebox interested people who wanted them for home use were all scarce. No EBAY either. EBAY seems to have come along in the mid-nineties, I think.
My Wife just found a list of "Miscellaneous Parts", including "oil can" for W-700 and W-800 in the manual I have for those machines. No Pictures and I believe most did not come with the actual machine. I can list them if anyone is interested. Kind of an interesting list.

Hi David, My impression ( I'm old, but not old enough to have seen any 24 select machines, new) is that there were several "generic" style oil cans shipped with them, as I have seen several different styles, that "people" told me were "original" to the WurliTzer. I also recall seeing a "packet" of toolz "rolled up" (cloth, or maybe, leather pocketed, enclosures), sitting on that shelf, next to an oil can-- Ron Rich

Several Pre-War Wurlitzer models had a cup and holder assembly which was intended to hold tools. Through the years only a two machines I owned have had an oil can (6 inches tall) and one had the tools (a small screwdriver and an Alan Style Key).

Thank You, Ron and Startgroove! I appreciate the info! Now I know a lot more than I did. Maybe I'll skip the tools addition. Five machines in our collection are 24 select Wurlitzers. I'll see if I have five matching oil cans, in my bag of cans and go with that. They will be spotlessly empty. I can only imagine Anna's reaction (mine too) if I had an "oil spill" in the house. I now keep a 6 mil plastic sheet under every machine as a "just in case" event for those little drips. After 23 years of living here I have never found a drop of oil under any machine. I do oil them but never excessively!

That is a great idea! We worry about oil drops on the carpet too. I'll tell Lori of your solution, she will be relieved. TNX for the tip, Russie
