Hey all. I have a Rowe R-81 that has started crashing the tone arm into the record transfer arm instead of placing it nicely on the record. I've never paid too much attention until it broke, but seems like it should be lifting the tone arm over the transfer arm somehow. Problem is, I don't see any mechanism that would do that (and no stray parts rattling around the bottom ). Here's a pic of the mech: My only guess is that the black arm in the center of the pic, thats riding on the aluminum cam in back, is supposed to do something somehow. It doesn't seem to do anything besides wear a groove in the cam though... The crescent shaped brass bar near the cam lifts the tone arm if you push on it, but nothing gets close to it. I have the repair manuals, but so far they haven't been much help. At least in the exploded parts view it doesnt look like anything is somehow missing... So anyone have any idea how it's supposed to be working? If something looks off, maybe you have a pic of a working mech? Thanks for any insight!

Read your service manual-- there is a tone arm height adjustment shown in it--- scary --but it's there ! Ron Rich
