I have Zodiac and can't get carousel drive to engage if you turn it by hand it picks up and replaces and plays and returns but I can't get it to advance to selecti0ns

Sorry sir--You do not have a "Zodiac"-- that's the sales name, which was NOT used in the San Francisco area at the time, that phono was built !!
You have, exactly as stated on the ID tag on the cabinet rear a "3500" series, phono-- which of the series, you will need to determine by looking at the tag. There is nothing "wrong", with your "Carousel". The problem is, most likely, with the override switch (OS), or OS assembly. Do you have the Service Manual ? If so "service it" as shown. Do NOT "Push it" !! Serious damage CAN result. Ron Rich
