Upon further review...
Okay so.... Normally you will slide the "service" scan switch and the magazine turns but It is not turning. I checked voltage to the magazine motor while selecting scan and I am getting my 34vdc. Will double check the voltage is correct but if I recall correctly it is.
Pg 34 shows some other items associated with the magazine but at this point it appears my gearbox is jammed somehow. I think this explains the circuit tripping most likely due to high current.
I was thinking of reversing the voltage since its DC but instead will grip the shaft on the gearbox and try turning it by hand to see if I can get it out of the jam.
Ugh, worse case scenario I would think the motor or gearbox has gone bad .. hoping for the best!!

Okay, found it. There was a lever that slides on a limit switch that was stuck. The grease feels more like a glue so I am going to go through this and give a good lube. Will check FAQ Ron for lube points and recommended lube

Hi James-- Neither of what you think, is what I consider to be the case. Yep-- I believe the CB is tripping due to an overload, which MUST be, fixed, BEFORE you re-power it back up ! What IMHO is happening, is the AB switch, cam follower, TOGGLE, is hung up in the cam, due to lack of proper lubrication ! What I do, when this happens, is back off the motor slightly by hand--Use only, 20 wt oil, to oil the toggle inside the cam, and the "switch-over tracks", it rides in. Advance that cam follower by hand, watching it as it enters the switch-over-- back it off and re-do that several times --then reset the CB and using the service switch ONLY, run the basket around to the same point--re-oil the switch over, and be sure the follower switches, not "hangs up". If you do exactly as above, I am going to assume this will also solve your original problem of not playing A sides--- Ron Rich

Hi James, Above two posts "crossed"--in the mail?-- As far as I know no "grease" should be on that "lever" ? If the part that "slides" has a roller on it ( as my great-but not too long memory, says), the roller should be free, and have some oil on it's axial. Be sure the cam follower is serviced as above post indicates ! Ron Rich

Hi Ron,
Copy that on the CB overload. Still having AB issues but should be wrapped up soon
Had to be that mechanical action causing the overload. Carriage motor/gearbox is working fine.
I had already pulled the AB control box and will test the coil. The contacts look pretty rough.

Ron,
Okay, coil and contacts are fine. Contact looks suspect but it works so Im okay with that.
Switching during the crossover point is not.
I can apply pressure to the lever and as soon as the The crossover point comes around the lever drops, micro changes states, readout stops record applied to turntable. When record is done the lever struggles to come back up to its default position.
So when I see it start to move if I help it along it drops into position and all works as normal.
So as you stated that lever is the problem.
There is not enough force to pull it up and down freely. (ON TIME)
Will tear into it and get all the gummy crap off of it, get it to cycle freely and report back.
I think this is going to be the final ticket!

Got her done. Lever moves up and down freely. There was a pile of gunk at the crossover point not allowing the roller to drop all the way. I still want to dive deep into the gear and clean everything up real good so it will be problem free. There are some locations where its gummy still in other areas so at this point I think its all about getting the old gunk out and start with fresh lube. Its been fun learning and still have a ways to go. I still do not know what that limit switch is doing but will figure it out. I think its just confirming the AB rotation for the pickup arm before it gives the final okay to the 1st digit- 2nd digit light on the top display. Will report back with an update when its all done. Thank you for all the help Ron and Norm. Any help at all is extremely appreciated and I am very grateful for your time! I hope this tread is useful to someone else down the road. What it's SUPPOSED to do, is set the A or B sensor side, set which side of the turntable the gripper arm spins to to play the correct record side--and as you noted, one set of contacts sets either the 1, or 2 lamp in the display. Ron Rich
