Hi David, Seller is an idiot-- Yes Seeburg made it-- It's a wire recorder, made prior to 3M's inventing, magnetic tape ! I have written to that seller twice to inform him--he will not respond, nor change that description ? Ron Rich

I remember my Dad telling a story about an old farmer in Texas when my Dad was a kid (born in 1900). The farmer, for a low cost, received the ultimate pest and bug killer. A block of wood and a wooden mallet.

Hi David, I have experienced "one better"-- When I was in the US Army, stationed in Italy, in mid 60's, I met a guy who was American, but had lived in Italy, as a child-- His Italian was without a flaw-- He was also a "con artist". He advertised in Italian magazines a "Guaranteed fly killer" for about 8 cents, US-- Anyway when the customer bought it, "it", consisted of two pieces of balsa wood, one marked "A", other marked "B". Instructions said to place fly on block A, smash with block B--- The Italian Govt. "complained", so he stopped--er, sorta-- he then sold a guaranteed " Mosquito Killer"-- til he got stopped again--then it became a guaranteed "moth killer", spider--etc-- This kid was into other 'sales" too --like booze, and cigarettes, and US Gas coupons---- finally the US Govt. arrested, and convicted him--6 months in the poky for selling the booze, or coupons--don't recall---- When he got out I saw him in the compound, and he asked me if I still had my VW. I told him sure-and he said "give me a ride?" I said sure--where do you want to go-- He said leave the post and turn right. then he said to "turn left" at the next intersection-- I asked him to quit "messing around" and tell me where you want to go-- He said "this a-way" --well, we drove to the local Mazzaritti (sp?) dealer, and he said stop here and come inside. We went in and looked at several different cars-- He then pointed to one and said , in Italian, to the sales man-- How much ? Sales man gave him the price ( NO negotiations there !). He peeled off $4,500 in US dollars, and drove out the showroom floor with that car ( we both were making the grand total of $65.00 US, per month at that time !). Ron Rich

Ron, I guess there is always some who are good at that kind of trickery. I'm usually the victim! I got taken a couple times while at Ft Bliss on some kind of bingo, like, game. Once Anna and I were negotiating to purchase our first new car. The guy seemed to have all kinds of gimmicks. Anna finally grabbed the paper that he kept changing the numbers on and she methodically ripped it into a bunch of little pieces. She left it on his desk and we walked out! That good ole Irish Temper!
