HI all, I just joined the forum. I am a member of antique radio forum and one of the members suggested this site. I am working on a Seeburg LPC1 , in the tormat control there are two relays, a left and a right which activate depending on which side of lp is played. On the one I am working on when the selection is made it scans to the record, seats it, the relay activates and the record for a split second starts to play then the relay deenergizes and the record returns and will scan to next selection. If I manually hold the relay in it will stay energized and play the Lp. My problem is I am not sure if it's in the electronics of the tormat control or if it's in the switches on the record player mechanism. I have the service manual but it dosnt really seem to address this issue in the troubleshooting section. It does have the original caps in the tormat control and I really don't want to start changing components without solving the current problem. If it's in the switching in the main record unit I am not sure which bank of switches it would be in. I would really appreciate any help you guys can give me. Thanks Sam

Hi Sam, Welcome ! I'll give you a little slack here as I have a grand-daughter living in AZ and talked to her about the heat this AM -- But PLEASE use the terms in the Service Manual ! The relays you are speaking of are in the Tormat Control Center (TCC) NOT the "Tormat". I can not tell from your writing which side of the record is being played--sounds like the RH side? If so, please read either the "mechanism operation" manual, or my Seeburg Mechanism Guide, and you will be able to determine if the problem is mechanical, or electrical, at which point I am 95 % sure I can ell you what to do--

Thanks Ron, I will read those two items. It dosnt matter which side of the record is selected. Either right side or left side relay initializes depending on the side selected and then record will start to play the relay deenergizes the record goes back into its slot and it scans to next selection then does the same thing over again. If I manually keep which ever relay closed shut it will go ahead and play the side that corresponds with the relay that I held closed.I only have to hold either one of the relays for a second or so and then they will stay energized and play the record.Sorry for not using the correct terminology in the first post. Sam

Hi Sam, You have found the guide--I sell it directly from my email (ronnnrich@yahoo.com--thanks for your order !) It appears to me that you may have one of two problems--In order to find out which, remove the "mech" (mute) plug from the amp. and make a selection--will it play now, or not (BTW--not a good thing to hold a relay !)?

Hi Ron, finally was able to get back to the lpc1. I removed the mechanism plug from the amp and it made no difference what so ever. Still does its routine of set tone arm down and then immediately reject and move to next selection. Sam
