I have an Antique Apparatus bubbler RB8 for 45s with the Rowe AMI workings. The interior components appear to be the same as my Rowe AMI R90 juke with just the dash numbers following the part numbers of the modules being higher in number. Since the R90 is 1986 vintage, I would estimate that the bubbler is circa 1988 +/- a year or so. The juke plays OK with the following exception, after its been on for a few minutes it begins to make a loud humming noise; electrical in nature, not mechanical. This noise does not seem to affect the juke's ability to function and the noise is not noticeable over the sound of the music. After about 10 minutes of irritating noise between plays, the humming stops and all is well until the next time the juke is started up from cold. Could this noise be a transformer on its way out and is it likely to cause other problems if not addressed?
Thanks,
Stingman

Hi Stingman, Attsa Rowe--Antique App. (AA) used Rowe parts for years, till they purchased the remains of RockOla. You need to determine where, that "hum" comes from ! Not being able to hear it, I have no idea. Is this the AA model with the Rowe amp screwed to the side, or rear wall, or the one with the amp in a drawer, in the rear of the cabinet ? Ron Rich

Hi Ron,
This juke has the amp attached to the back wall, One woofer inside a box on the bottom and four speakers on the door.

Hi Ron,
Still get the hummm when unplugging the amp.
By the way, You mentioned I have the first version of the AA 45rpm bubbler; how many versions were made before the CD version came out? I have seen photos of other AA bubblers with the woofer on the door.

Hi Stingman, Seems like they made a "different version, every day" ! Do you have the "large" front door, or the small front door on that one (Large door swings bubble tubes and pilasters open with it ) ? Ron Rich

Hi Ron, My bubble tubes remain with the cabinet when the door is opened.

Hi Stingman, Very "first" cabinet-- requires a "little person" to work inside that cabinet ! Ron Rich

Hi Stingman, You will need to determine exactly what's "humming"-- I would suspect a lamp ballast, first-- Are all starters the correct type ?? Ron Rich
