Mark. When replacing caps I clip the cap off near the cap. That leaves a long lead that you can follow. the exception is Electrolytics I clip one lead and leave the other end unclipped, it eliminates confusion over polarity. get a good quality thin rosin core solder. A good quality pencil soldering iron, with a high wattage. It eliminates heat soak, and solder will melt quicker on a discreet component amplifier. Also with the 1400. get a free-play adapter, you will need it. even if you get the credit unit to work correctly, it probably won't stay that way. hope this helps. another Mark

Mark (s), On the Free Play Adapter-- Use CAUTION- The kind that just allows the keyboard to be "hot", will also allow someone to hold a button down, long enough to burn up a selection coil ! May also burn up a coil, if the button "sticks" in-- Ron Rich
