Anyone out there know what the original color is for the tonearm on a 1936 Wurlitzer 412? I've seen chrome, silver, polished brass. The paint on my 412 arm was so grungy it was hard to tell. Thanks.

Hi Gary, Tone arms on early WurliTzers (and possibly other makes ?), were often altered to improve their operation, as the years past-- A 412 would originally have had a "25 lb" cartridge on it--Several aftermarket companies supplied newer, much lighter, replacements (say 10 lbs ? ). My suggestion is to purchase, or look in, if you have it, the parts book -- colors won't show, but the style of arm should be apparent, and I wood /assume it was painted a "brownish" color-- ?? The 412 carried a silver coat of paint. Cheers, Russie

The very first ones were made from depleted aluminium and plated with zinc (NOT).

Hi Russie, I was badly miss-informed ! I waz tolt, that WurliTzer used up the last of the UNobtainium, in making them ?? ( 'course that was by an "AMi, guy")-- Ron Rich

Update: Found a 412 tone arm in my parts pile that is not painted. Appears to be plated with tin, cadmium or some other metal over brass casting.
