Hi there I have a r85, the glass door on it has closed and we cannot open it. The lock itself has already been removed, and now we cannot open it. Any suggestions on how to do so. Many thanks Mary.

Hi Mary, Look thru the lock hole-- can you see the lock cam ? If so, insert a screwdriver in in and twist-- Do you have the parts manual for this phono ? Ron Rich

Hi there, sorry I don't have the manual for the jukebox. When I look into the hole there is only metal blocks to the left and right and red wire and black wire (lighting I presume). Thanks Marty.

Hi Marty, Try "pulling" on the blocks-one at a time to the center of the hole-- My great, but not too long memory says they slide and pull the wire attached to the catch(s)---Did you read our FAQ's section--Manuals/catalogs are available. Ron Rich

Well that sucks! On my R-85, the inside of the lock attaches to a bracket. When you turn the key, that bracket pulls inward (towards the clock) on two stiff pieces of wire that slides the latches inward as well, releasing them from their catches. If your entire lock is gone and there's just a hole there, you would need to find and grab those two wires and pull them towards the center of the jukebox. You could probably do them one at a time and have a helper pry up a little bit on the side you pull in on so the latch is off the catch, then do the other side. The problem is going to be finding/grabbing those wires. Looking at mine, if they are no longer attached to the bracket, they may be dangling away from the lid. You could use some grabbers that would fit through the hole and let you try to pull the ends of the wire over to the hole. But it's literally a shot in the dark! I would not want to be poking around inside there using a metal wand with live 110VAC running through the box... make sure you unplug it from the wall. www.amazon.com/NoCry-Pick-up-Tool-Set-Telescoping/dp/B07D23M5R7/That's a set with both grabbers and a magnet on a stick. I just checked and the wires are steel so they do stick to a magnet. If I can post more pics of my mechanism that will help you, let me know. I also looked around for any other potential ways to get into it... I'm not seeing anything short of breaking the glass on the front. The removable panel on the back only gets you into the speaker cabinet/coin catcher, not the mechanism area. You'll have to figure out the latch! Photo of R-85 latch

Hi Mary, My great, but not too long memory is telling me that I have dealt with this several times in the past (Why?? oh, Why? do these DUMMIES, keep drilling locks, that have keys that are so easily replaced ??). It says that I needed someone else's help-- and what we did was to "wiggle" the upper lid, and force something very thin in under the lip, then push the slide over, one side at a time. HTH, Ron Rich
