Hi.
I have a Service manual for the above jukebox. It is a very detailed manual, consisting of numerous schematics relating to the various working parts of the jukebox. I am finding it very difficult to understand as it is probably pitched for someone who is electrically/mechanically minded, with some knowledge on jukebox workings.
Is there a user manual/operating manual with basic information, for the above machine that is easier to follow?
Many thanks
Paul

Hi Paul, no, Rock-Ola never did not offer installation and operating manuals for models later than 1961.

Hi Folks.
Thank you for your speedy response to my posting. Its unfortunate that the user manual doesnt exist for my model as I do believe many users of the same model could make good use of it. Thanks Hildegard.

However, I have not read the available FAQ's "how a jukebox works" and am looking forward to reading it. Thanks Ron.

Hi Paul I'm currently writing up.....as well as detailing the schematics I find in the Rockola Princess 1493 INSTRUCTION AND PARTS LIST MANUAL ......for my own benefit. Like you, I've found it somewhat challenging to understand what's in my manual.....so as an engineer/geek.....I'm having to generate a sketch of a functions or operations that are missing in the manual. Just by re-writing what already exists......in my own words has helped me alot. I own a few Wurlitzers, but by no means am an expert......and even less knowledgeable about the Rockola that I'm fixing for a friend....but I luv them all. Anyway, I will be glad to post the write-ups and sketches that I've made for my own personal use .....which migh help you better understand what's going on in your jukebox? I would begin by clarifying (defining in my own words) many of the terms I've found in the manual to be confusing. Such as...... The keyboard Number and Letter pushbuttons "prepare" or "readies" the circuit..... and how to interpret that in the schematics. And what terms like "Index"; "Self-Locking" contacts; etc, etc,,etc mean mechnically, electrically and schematically....... in my own words. I have a list of so many words and phrases that it would be best if you could start with those words and phrases that you find challenging.......I'm sure they are on my list as well......as I'm sure on many other peoples' lists. I'll also do my best to walk you through my techniques for troubleshooting jukebox.....or any technical problems for that matter......which has served me well in my career. I'm now thinking it might be better if we didn't do all this on this Forum, but rather by email? Please let me know......
Best regards.....and stay healthy

Hi Geek, One of RO's manuals uses the word "UN-LOOSEN" -- I once asked Mr. Rockola, what that meant-- his answer-- two hands up in the air, with a shrug-- LOL-- Thanks for reminding me of this ! Ron Rich

Hi Geek.
Many thanks for your post.
Its very satisfying noting that you too can relate to the problem I'm having, with one of the most complex subjects I've ever encountered!
It is very kind and, thoughtful of you to offer me assistance in trying to understand and navigate the world of the Jukebox, and especially the SCHEMATICS---jeepers! Give me the "Krebs cycle" any day!
You seem to have put a huge amount of effort and time into your own your work. Well done!
If you don't mind, I would be glad of any help you can offer me.
My e mail address is coulterp.24@gmail.com
You can, if you have time, send me a test e mail.
Kind regards and thank you.
