Hello,
My step father had a trove of Rowes fall into his lap about 10 years ago. A guy he was acquaintances with had some kind of business. He had a bunch in storage. The sad thing is the guy got old, his storage building fell in disrepair, and kids would break in. Half of them had water damage or physical damage from the kids walking across the them. Well, some other guy wanted them but was trying to get them for nothing. The owner called my step father and got a lot better deal. He bought 20 of the better units.
I have an electrical background and have better than average mechanical aptitude. Once we found a machine that ran decent, it was a matter of swapping parts and sorting out the good parts from bad to get others to run. We had 10 working machines at one point. His favorite is a CD100G that I converted into an MP3 player.
Anyway, it has been a while since we worked on any. The CD100 was giving him fits, so we just put a refurbished CCC in it. Runs like a champ again....He is happy!
The second favorite machine is an R-92 CD/45. I recall it being a pain to get it to find the CDs. He had not played it in a year, and it must have lost the memory. It was playing 45s fine. Well, I did a quick look and thought I remembered using the "777" code and applied it again. It did run through the CD deck. It will expect coins and run up the count. You can enter a 45 or CD number, but it wont play anything. It seems like the CCC is stuck on popular song count. When you press the button on it, it will cycle through what looks like a song number and the count next to it on the CCC display. I suspect the service switch is sticking. Next time I get a chance to go over there I will swap it out with another one and see if that is it. I was wonder if anybody had any similar experience. It has been a solid machine with no error codes. After this episode, it will flash "ERROR 12" briefly. I am going to order a manual tomorrow. I was hoping somebody was willing to share some knowledge.
Thanks!
Dave
