Rock-Ola 1428

I have a 1947 Rock-Ola that has the coin mechanism disabled to allow free play. 
Currently every time a selection is made by pressing a key, a buzzing noise is made and nothing happens.
Does anyone have any ideas on where I should start looking for this problem?

"Disabling the coin mechanism" has no bearing on "free play". IF, by "Coin Mechanism", you are speaking of the pricing, or credit unit, --yes,it's possible someone jury rigged it, to play without the use of coins.
