Hello from suburban "Minne-a-no-place", everyone! (Maple Grove, MN, to be exact). When I was a wee-lad I was fortunate enough to have, as my own personal "record player", a 1955 RO 1452! I loved that thing, despite the fact that we kept dropping the needles on it, the tubes kept going out, and the platter spun at only half-speed before it had a a chance to warm-up. (Imagine, if you will, a five year old child poking around an amplifier and power supply, looking for a dropped needle! Someone "upstairs" must have been looking out for me!). However, when I was 7 or 8 years old my parents put it out in the front yard with a "For Sale" sign on it, and they sold it (for a measly $25!!!) so that they could finish-off the basement! Fast-forward about 35 years or so, and one day at lunch I was cruisin' the "interwebs" and found another 1452 for sale on eBay! The listing said, "Buy It Now"....so I did! A few weeks later my father and I drove out to West By God Virginia to pick it up, and.... I had to put the RO in storage for a number of years due to a divorce, but this past winter I dug it up again, and I now have the time, and the means, to bring this thing back to life! I have a blog on this juke ( jimsrock-ola1452.blogspot.com/) , but right now it's grossly out of date. I prefer "working" on the RO to writing about it, but hopefully in the near future I'll find the time to sit down and type-up a few words... Regardless, this is me, and this is my childhood dream come true! Jim

Look forward to reading your blog about your adventure. Nice to see you are able to update it and get that project finished. I am working on a 1448 myself now which is very similar to your 1452. Keep on jukin! James!

James,
Thanks! Both projects (the 1452 as well as the blog) are still Works In Progress, but I keep making headway on each! Hoping to finish the 1452 by mid-December, in time for my father's Birthday.
I would enjoy seeing pictures of your 1448 and hearing it's story, so if you ever want to compare notes (or just want someone to commiserate with!), feel free to shoot me an email!
Regards,
Jim
