Hello all, newbie, first post, blah blah blah..
My new-to-me Rock-ola 480 makes a very loud pop (more like a WUMP!) sound when I flick the power switch on. What are some of the causes and/or what can be done to minimize?
I’ve read about using a delay relay to connect the speakers after ½ second or so. Is this a good idea?
Thanks!

This is common, and not a problem in solid state amplifiers. You can not avoid it, without building a complicated time delay-- which may affect the amplifier poorly. Ron Rich

Thanks Ron! The mechanical side of things doesn’t scare me, but electronics are not my forte. I’ll leave well enough alone. Pop it is, then!
