Hi Ron Rich, I would dispute the information stating that the picture of the aluminum cast tonearm being for 78rpm play. I suspect this tonearm was cast with a section midway on the underside for clearance of the blue rings used in 45 rpm play. I haven’t been able to determine a functioning difference from the tonearm cams. I wondered if the shorter, deeper form is to assist in rejecting the 45 rpm record. The tonearm spring seems to be able to be adjusted for either 45 rpm or 78 rpm tonearm starting placement. Your wisdom would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Robert Why would you dispute a fact ? The tonearm for 45rpm is totally different (length, shape...), it's in the manual. There is no spring on the 78rpm tonearm, nor on the 45rpm.

I dispute it to clarify. The two tone arms are less than 1/2” different in length. I looked in the manual, but couldn’t find anything that specified which arm was the 45 conversion. My near 100% original 78 RPM AMI C has the pencil shaped tonearm and when I attempted to play 45 RPM 7 inch records, it fails to clear the blue ring at the point where the record is clipped in. Might be a way to raise the arm to clear, but I’m not sure. On my 45 RPM AMI C setup to play 45 RPM the arm is s shaped to reach the end of the 7inch record and it has a routed portion on the under side that clears the lip on the blue ring. The cast arm also can’t be placed at the beginning of a 78 RPM 11 inch record without drilling a new hole and modifying the mount. Possible wrong tonearm cam? The start spring I mentioned is in the tonearm cam, not the arm! I am trying to clarify the facts to make sure I as well as anyone reading this post gets it correct. It would help if someone has been successful at setting up the AMI C with the cast arm respond with the steps that were taken to get it working properly. I didn’t post my question to Ron to upset anyone. I posted to get applicable responses to solve this post or make it better to understand.

What I am attempting to do is use the better looking cast tonearm in my 78 RPM AMI C Jukebox. When I place it in my box, it start 7 inches out from the center of the record. I hope to get posts explaining how to get it to start at the beginning of an 11 inch record. Starting to sound like it is due to a 45 RPM tonearm cam. Robby the robot, does this sound possible/probable? Thanks for the input.
