Unfortunately, I do have a workshop manual but it is in a different place so I hope my descriptions enable people to suss out what I am talking about:
Problem 1
Sometimes when selection a record (electric selector) the keys pop back up as normal but the selection arms on the back of the record carousel just goes round and round - any ideas?
Problem 2
On the mechanisms behind the keys one of the mechanisms that has wiper blades has rather worn solder contacts that I need to redo. Presumably somehow the keyboard and the mechanisms come off of the box, anyone know ho to do this?
Many thanks for any help you can give.

Paul, I think you need to recover that service manual as a priority! You probably also need to be more detailed on your fault description - but taking a punt on problem 1, your pulse converter will likely need some overhaul / cleaning. For problem 2, the complete button bank assy should be easily removeable, two screws on each end.

Hi Paul, You have 3 "problems" here. Number 1. In my opinion, is the model-- which "J" are you talking about ?-- J 100-E, J-100-M, J200-E, J200-M ? When "your' problem one happens, does the selection pin get "pushed"-- even a little ? What are the "solder contacts", you speak of ? Please read the "Hi Newbies" post in our FAQ's section. Ron Rich

Hi Ron
The model number is J200-E
The service manual is 900 miles away so a little bit of a problem.
No the selector pin does not get pushed in even a little...the arm just keeps going round and round.
As for the solder contacts, the mechanism is behind the keys that are pushed to select a record by the person making the choice. It has a wiper on it but there are also some raised bits of solder that an arm of the wiper contacts to stop it. Exactly what it is called I do not know without reference to the service manual....which is 900 miles away. Just hoping that someone can identify it from my so called description.

Hi Paul. I have PM-ed you a dropbox link for a couple of sections of the J service manual (credit/selection nad record changer). That should tide you over until your own manual is released from quarantine! I actually find the J manual to be quite readable, unlike some! As I said, it's an easy punt to finger the pulse converter - from there I could write a book on the possibilities, which is why I've taken the easy option and sent a link for the AMi version. Norman.

Hi Paul, Still wondering about the "solder contacts", Are these perhaps rivets, or, are they "flat" traces, on a board ? Watch the "spraque (SP ?) relay" while the wipers are spinning-- is it attempting to energize ? Ron Rich

Jukenorman, thanks very much for the pdfs, very useful.
Ron, thanks for the comments.
Where this item is it is very difficult to see it. I shall try undoing things and hopefully the keyboard will fall off and I can get a better view and what is causing the problem - seems it sometimes goes past where it should park.

Hi Paul, If my memory serves me-- the motors are of the AC "fly out clutch type". Often, if not properly kept oiled, the clutch will NOT "fly out", which will result in over travel of whatever is being propelled. Ron Rich
