Recommend you not get into that amplifier UNLESS you have some electrical or electronic background. There are a couple of tests you can do outside the amplifier though. With a Volt-Ohmeter check to see if there is continuity between the two pins of the power lead plug. Its' DC resistance should be 3 to 4 ohms. If it is much higher than that, or open, then the power transformer primary would be bad (assuming the fuse and all connections in the primary circuit are good). If the resistance is close to that, then the power source is where the problem is. OR, the windings to the tubes could be open. However, since there are two tube windings, one for the 5Z3 and one for the rest of the tubes, it is not likely that both would go bad at the same time. You can also confirm that the problem is in the amplifier or not by powering it up through an external extension cord.

If you do not have a meter, l@ k carefully at the fuse--is it the correct size and type ? Has it blown, and if so is there black "krap" all over the insides ? If all black, you will need to have someone look at the amp, that is familiar with tube type amps. If not all black, change the rectifier tube and the fuse-- be sure it's the correct fuse ! Then try it-- If you need to have it looked at, see our FAQ's section for a list of repair persons. Ron Rich

This is for 1015 Wurlitzer
Lock crackling noise happens when platter is rising from the speaker.
Once record is set and starts playing it goes away. Have not recapped amp. For all I know it is still original wax

Is there a question here ? If implied, I don't get the implication ?? And I sure don't know what a "Lock crackling noise" sounds like, nor where it coming from ? Please read our "Hi Newbies" post in the FAQ's section. Ron Rich
