This with my Rock-Ola 468 are kept in our summerhouse at the bottom of the garden. From now until the early summer I keep a 60w inspection lamp burning in the bottom of each and a box of rechargeable dehumidifier crystals and cover both boxes with some insulation to ensure they stay reasonably warm and dry, when not in use.
There appears to be a bit of a mains hum sometimes when I turn it on. But almost disappears after I've played half a dozen records. I play a few records every other day on each through the winter. You can hear the hum at the beginning of this record. Should I be worried?

Hi Riley, Been awhile since you posted-- hope all's well there ! Listening on my crappy computer speakers, I can't hear it ( but then again, my hearing is, no good !). I would suggest that if it's been over ten years, it's probably telling you that a "re-cap" on that amp is due--- Ron Rich

I couldn't hear the hum either but the hard drive on my laptop can be a bit noisy! Is the turntable speed correct, sounded a bit off to me but I've never heard that Cookies' record before? Norman.

Thanks for the response. It sounds OK to me, it is actually a mint copy I found a few weeks ago on Discogs. I compared it to a YouTube video and didn't notice any difference.
The Cookies I guess are a bit over represented in that jukebox. But I think they were the best sixties girl group.
I've also got,
"Don't say nothin' bad about my baby." "I want a boy for my birthday."
I've also got "One Wonderful Night" by the Honey Bees, who are actually the Cookies under another name.
The reason was that Spector was only paying them a recording fee, I've read it was $500. So they recorded for other labels under different names.
They also recorded as "The Palisades."
I've not been able to find this,

It wasn't the record I was concerned about, it was the jukebox. Have you got a strobe disc to check it? But whatever, if you are happy with it, that's what matters I suppose! All I have by The Cookies is Chains, but it's a start!
Norman.

Thanks for that, just checking the actual length of my record with a couple on Youtube, it's running about 10% slow. I've noticed it running a bit slow sometimes for the first couple of records when it's been left for a few days. I thought it might be because it was a bit cold. I do lubricate it "periodically," perhaps it needs doing again.

I had another go at playing this record this afternoon. But I gave the jockywheel and the inside of the turntable a clean. Then oiled the top turntable motor bearing, the jockywheel spindle and put a couple of drops down the turntable spindle socket. Then played half a dozen records before the one in question. I got 2.35 minutes this time, those on YouTube vary between 2.37 and 2.39.
Plus, it's been very warm today for the time of the year in the UK. We were playing golf this morning without a sweater. So I guess the warmer weather helped. But thanks everyone for the interest.

Hi Riley, Couple of things you may or may not know. 1. At least here, in the US, most records are marked as to running time on the label. 2. that TT motor has oil wicks on both the top and bottom, and they must both, be filled. Reccomended oil by the motor maker, is (SAE) 20 wt., ND (electric), motor oil. Ron Rich
