Hi Folks,
Tnx for info,
Rik from Ohio
New guy here. Have had a Wurlitzer 2000 for a number of years. I primarily used it as a sound system off a CD player or other music source, not wanting to wear the mechanism. Acquired it years ago in rather sorry condition. I replaced all the large (24 inch) fluorescent tubes and starters at that time. The pilasters were gone so I subbed UV fluorescent tubes and plastic wrap protectors. Looks very nice all lit up especially at night. Noticed back then that the auxiliary RCA jack worked nicely with external line level audio. Stopped using it a couple of years later when I noticed the aluminum electrolytics getting warm.
Recently opened it up again. Found a poor schematic for the 530 amp on the Net but also the manual for model 2500 with an excellent schematic of the 532 amp which is mostly identical except for phase inverter. I recently re-capped the amp and checked resistors for tolerance, working from the top of the printed circuit board to avoid damage or separation of the traces on the board. Replaced all the electrolytics using 2 added terminal strips. Amp works great now. Have fed MP3 into the aux input which I found was actually a cathode follower output for an external amp. However, also works fine as input source since it feeds the top of the volume control.
Found that 4 watt fluorescents are cheap closeout at Lowes and elsewhere. Just bought some and the starters.
Questions-- The select and rotopage buttons are lit up in some of the examples I have seen on the net. Mine are not lit up but that may be because I never installed those small fluorescents years ago. Is the light for those buttons coming from those 4 watt fluorescents or are there other lights in there? How difficult are those to access?
Tnx for info,
