On a 1959 machine would 43,000 be considered low, average or high number of plays? Of course I wouldn't know if the 'odometer' has turned over.

Like you have guessed--hard to say-- One--those "odometers" were reliable to about 400k, then they would stop advancing-- Two. Are you sure that's the original meter in that phono ? Three--if so, my opinion would be "very low" Ron Rich
