Same LPC-480, more questions.
The top speakers, the 2 5" tweeters and the 2 6" x 9" mids, have been replaced by more modern coaxial speakers. Would it be worth tracking down the original speakers that came with this model? Or would it really not make much of a difference?
Thank you,
Dalton

Hi Dalton, IMHO, the 480 series had a good sound-- I have no idea which amp, or the type/quality of the needles you have, nor what it sounds like, so it is difficult to make any judgements on sound quality, at this point. In this phono, as with most of the commercial phonographs, engineers took the cabinet to be part of the total system, offering the best sounding set-up they could. Ron Rich

Ron,
Thank you for the information. I agree with the sound. It's not as bright sounding as the later ones with the horn tweeters, makes it more pleasant to listen to loud. Since one of the replacements has a hole in it I'll try to source the original speakers.
Thank you
