My Centennial 1900 was playing fine for an hour after being moved into my home the previous week. I was on my eleventh selection when the machine picked a record, moved it into the play position and stopped. I tried to reject the record, but everything in frozen with the record and record arm at the load position. Does anyone have any idea what happened to my machine?

Hi Ron,
Thank you very much for the information. I went through your suggestions and I found a blown fuse on the box which appears to house the amplifier (lower right hand side when facing machine from rear). I really appreciate your time and now I have to figure out why it blew. I am going to get a repair/maintenance manual and start with a tuneup including a thorough cleaning and lubrication.
Thanks again,
Chris

Hi Chris, Which fuse is/was it ? What value should it have been, and what value, in fact, was it ? Yes--IMHO, getting the service manual package is a great idea ! See our FAQ's section before you purchase it ! Ron Rich

Hi Ron,
The fuse that blew was a Buss MDL 2A. Opposing end showed 250V. I looked it up online and found that it is a time delay type of fuse so I called around and found one at Ace Hardware. I checked the outside of the "amplifier box" and it showed a 2 next to the fuse location of the failed fuse (I assumed this "2" signified 2 amps). I installed the fuse and the motor for the turntable started immediately. I had to cycle the lower toggle switch on/off/on to get the record carousel to turn.
I played about 20 selections and there were no issues, but this kind of thing bugs me and I want to know the root cause of the first fuse failure.
Thanks again for your help! I am just learning this machine and it is very interesting.
Take care and enjoy the weekend.
Chris

Hi Chris, A MDL 2 is not the correct fuse for that position ! If it said 2 A.SB, it would be. It is slightly "over-fused", however it will usually blow sometime prior to the transformer blowing --- If there is just a "2" marked, it is a 2 amp "fast blow" ( AGC, or 312) type. If it blows again, I strongly suggest you find the reason, and fix-it ! Ron Rich
