No one "holds" the record loading arm-- it's either in the load, or run position ! The CRANK arm, is the one needing holding ! Yes-- this is exactly why the Hi Newbies "sticky" in our FAQ's is posted-- The Service manual, at a minimum, must be read, in order to properly communicate !

Hey Ron finally received my manuals.
The record basket will turn freely clockwise without holding the crank arm.
