Hello,
Got a Rock-ola 1464 where there is no sound when a record plays. It may play alright for a couple of records and then no sound or cut out in the middle of a record. When this happens the "reject switch," part of the amplifier assembly, will not work and the coil mounting brackets on the carriage assembly get very hot and smell like they are burning. Sounds like a relay is hung up. But, I've cleaned every relay I can find...mute relay in amplifier assembly, play relay in power distribution, relay in accumulator assembly, and I've cleaned the micro switches. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Darrell, More info is needed-- please read our FAQ's section, the "Hi Newbies" post-- My GUESS from what you've written, is that the 25 vac is shorting to ground--some place ? Do not allow this to keep happening, as if you smell it, coils --are -- burning ! Check all fuses for correct size and type. Ron Rich

Hi Ron,
Thank you for responding. I read the "newbies" post. I live in the central Pa area, about 130 miles east of Pittsburgh. I used to contact Charlie Maier out of Philly with any questions regarding this box and he was always helpful. Unfortunately he passed and I've always dreaded the time when I would need help as there is no one in my area, at least that I'm aware of, that repairs jukeboxes. I've owned the 1464 for over 22 years and never had any real issues with it, worked fine until a month ago. I have a service manual and in no way pretend to be a technician. Over the years I've done a few things, soldered a new cartridge, adjusted the carriage so it select properly,I think I changed a tube once, etc. I do not want to do anything that will hurt me or damage the jukebox. I have many, many good memories with this box. Anyway, sounds like your talking about the latch bar solenoid release in the accumulator assembly, the only place I have not looked. The jukebox has been on "free play" since I've owned it. As I said, I can solder. Is this something that you think an experienced jukebox person needs to repair? I'm not opposed to taking the assembly out and shipping it to someone if that's the problem and what you would suggest. I have some concerns though, who can I trust, will the assembly be lost, etc. I think the nearest repair shops near me are in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. But I'm not sure how reputable these places are. Sorry this is so long. Your thoughts, recommendations would be appreciated. Darrel

Hi Darrel, Yep-- Charlie, was an "individual"-- one hellofa nice guy-- I miss him ( and many others) too-- My only suggestion would be to try our FAQs list of service persons-- and AXK them what they would suggest-- I do not know who, is close, nor who is "reputable" any of them are-are not . Maybe someone else knows ? Ron Rich
